Sam Gagner

6th overall pick

Sam Gagner was born on August 10, 1989 in London, Ontario, Canada. Currently he plays in the National Hockey League for the Edmonton Oilers. Gagner plays the position center although he can play the winger as well and he shoots left. Weighing in at 191 lbs and standing 5'10, Sam was chosen 6th overall by the Edmonton Oilers in the 2007 entry draft. In the same year, he was signed by the Oilers to a 3 year entry level contract and played his first National Hockey League game on October 4, 2007.

Sam has represented Canada numerous times in the international level winning a gold medal in the 2007 World Junior Champioship. He was also named MVP in the 2007 Super series where he tallied 15 points in 8 games.
